Home care that gives back: Our new chapter as Nestwell Home Care

After almost two decades of supporting families across Brighton, Hove and the surrounding areas, we’re beginning an exciting new chapter.

If you’ve known us as Martlets Care, we want you to know that we’re evolving into Nestwell Home Care, part of Southern Hospice Group – reflecting our purpose, our growth and our renewed commitment to helping people live independently and well at home.

The care you know and trust isn’t changing – the same skilled, dedicated and kind-hearted carers you’ve come to know and rely on remain in place.

Why home care matters more than ever

Across the UK, an increasing number of people are opting to live independently for longer. The NHS is placing greater emphasis on care at home, recognising that familiar surroundings support better health outcomes and quality of life.According to NHS England, around one in five emergency hospital admissions could be avoided with the right care provided at home and in the community. That’s a powerful reminder of the difference compassionate, community-based care can make.

What makes Nestwell Home Care different

What makes us unique is our social enterprise model – something that’s been at the heart of our work for nearly twenty years.

Nestwell Home Care continues to operate as a social enterprise, which means we exist to serve our community. The model is nothing new for our organisation, but since the evolution into Nestwell, our profits now support all three hospices within Southern Hospice Group. This includes:

Together, these hospices support thousands of adults, children and families living with life-limiting conditions every year.

When you choose Nestwell Home Care, you’re not just investing in your own wellbeing – you’re helping to sustain vital hospice services for your neighbours and community.

Home care you can trust

Our approach to home care in Brighton and Hove is built on almost twenty years of local experience. We provide:

  • Personal care – support with daily routines like bathing, dressing and getting out of bed
  • Daily living support – help with meals, medication, errands and household tasks
  • Companionship and respite – meaningful connection and relief for family carers
  • Night time nesters – overnight care when you need extra support

All our carers are locally based, trained to the highest standards and given time to provide the kind of care that brings real peace of mind. We believe in continuity – showing up for people day after day, building trusted relationships that make all the difference.

Our services are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and we’re proud to be rated ‘Good’ across all areas.

A message from our Deputy CEO

Becki Jupp, Deputy CEO and Commercial Director of Southern Hospice Group and Director of Nestwell Home Care, shared her thoughts on this new chapter:

“This is about much more than a new name. Nestwell Home Care reflects our belief that everyone deserves to feel safe, valued and connected in the place they call home. By reinvesting every penny of surplus into local hospice care, we’re ensuring that the care we give today helps sustain compassionate support for tomorrow.”

Care with heart, rooted in community

At Nestwell, we care about how we care. That means:

  • Transparent pricing with no hidden costs
  • Continuity of care from familiar faces
  • A focus on relationships, not just tasks
  • Professional excellence combined with a genuine human connection

We’re setting a new standard for home care in Brighton and Hove – one that combines high-quality, regulated care with a social mission that benefits the whole community.

I’ve only been in the care industry for 18 months, after deciding I wanted a career change. To say I love my job with Nestwell Home Care (formerly Martlets Care) is an understatement, the people I meet and the gratitude they show make it so worth while. The job entails so many different things from making people comfortable in the palliative side to giving people more independence by helping them do their weekly food shop. Each client has different needs and different care plans, which makes my job variable every day.

Stacey

Care Assistant

I’m a proud Nestwell Home Care (formerly Martlets Care) carer, the best part of my role is the satisfaction of helping people, and giving something back as they looked after my beloved brother in the past.

We all give 100% to our clients – they are given person centred care as we believe everyone is their own person and not just a number or a name. I love the empathy from the Nestwell Home Care team, including the resources provided to both carers and clients.

Sarah

Care Assistant

I have always worked in Recruitment, but after leaving that to look after my children, and then looking after my Nan for a few years, I realised caring for others was something I could do.

Working for Nestwell Home Care (formerly Martlets Care) is very rewarding, knowing that I make a difference to someone’s day however small, is heartwarming.

-Nestwell have a great team of people in all areas, they all have the same ethos for person centred care. We are well supported, and all take care of each other, as well as our clients. Also, knowing that all profits are going back into the Hospice is a huge bonus too.

Julie

Care Assistant

As a Nestwell Home Care Professional (formerly Martlets Care), I head home each day feeling tired. But, with a strong sense of satisfaction that my work has made a difference. How many jobs give you that feeling?
